So, let’s talk about your newborn photo shoot!
Newborns are a one of a kind type of photo shoot. I recommend booking your due date in after you have had your 20 week scan however we do sometimes have last minute availability so if you have left it last minute it is worthwhile checking if there is an available slot. I will book in a rough provisional date for the shoot based on your due date then if baby is early or overdue this can be adjusted if necessary. This type of shoot is carried out at 1-3 weeks old. Why so soon? Because this is when your baby is sleepiest and still curled up. I can carry out shoots up to 7/8 weeks old provided baby is still small enough for the props however at this many weeks old baby will be far more alert in the images which is still lovely as I can make the most of those big beautiful eyes and expressions. You choose the colour scheme for the shoot. I usually suggest picking up to 3 colours. Pick colours that will go well in your home.
A newborn shoot usually lasts up to a couple of hours. Babies need fed, changed and cuddled so we need plenty of time to work with them.
Babies siblings are allowed to come along to get some photos with their new baby brother or sister. After these images have been achieved I then advise that siblings get taken away as as you will know, young children get bored super quickly. Babies parents are encouraged to get involved in the photos. And if you’re not keen, it can be as simple as silhouette shots or your hands wrapped around baby.
When you first arrive in the studio it will feel warm. A warm studio is necessary keep baby happy and sleepy so please don’t over dress.
Newborn sessions are baby-led. This means that baby will be in charge of what they do and don’t want to do. Safety is our number one priority. Babies absolutely love to be swaddled up, this makes them feel safe and warm. Of course I will do unwrapped shots too as long as baby allows. Baby is the boss.
So come along for your newborn session, relax and you can watch and admire your little bundle in adorable poses or if you would like more natural photo’s that’s fine too.
There are no tricks or hidden costs with our packages. Both packages include the shoot (use of wraps, outfits, beautiful headbands, props etc) as well as the images so you know exactly what you are getting from the beginning. We do not do session fee's followed by unexpected package costs. This means that you will receive your beautiful package of images full of variety across multiple set ups using your choice of colour scheme for exactly the cost you see above. Both packages include images of baby as well as images with babies parents and babies siblings if desired. Parent/Sibling images are optional and not mandatory. It is important to book in your shoot in advance as we can only do a certain number of newborn shoots a month. We will never overbook so that appointments can be easily moved should your baby not be on time.
